International Bat Night
This Friday, 27th of August, is International Bat Night 🦇 International Bat Night is an annual celebration of bats, taking place during the last full weekend in August. This event aims to promote bats’ good image throughout Europe.
Bats are crucial to many environments around the world, acting as pollinators and indicators of biodiversity. Bats also act as a form of pest control, managing populations of insects and aiding with reforestation via seed transport and dispersal.
Unfortunately, many bats species are endangered or vulnerable. Bat populations have declined in recent years as a result of habitat loss and other threats.
