COP26

COP26 is the United Nations Conference of the Parties on Climate Change. Climate change is a huge issue facing the world today, and it’s up to all of us to do what we can to reduce the impact of climate change on our planet and to prevent any further damage.

COP26 will see the world’s leaders gather in Glasgow for the summit from 31st October 2021 to 12th November 2021 with the goal of accelerating action on the Paris Agreement and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.

The UK as the current president of the COP is committed to working with all countries and joining forces with civil society, companies and those on the frontline fighting climate change.

The main aims of the negotiations at COP26 include:

  • Reducing emissions;
  • Strengthen adaptation and resilience to climate impacts; and
  • Scale-up finance and support.

Although the pandemic posed challenges to the multilateral climate change process, the UN is committed to making progress in a transparent and inclusive way in solidarity with all countries.

COP26 is determined to bring the world together in the fight against climate change. We all have to work together to protect our planet and ensure a greener, more resilient future for us all.
