Project: Greenway Development Project, Co. Donegal

Client: Donegal County Council

Services Provided: AVRIO was engaged by the client to undertake a number of services for a project consisting of the development of a 7.5km greenway within County Donegal. The services AVRIO have provided on this project to date are: 

      • Undertook an Invasive Species walkover survey of the entire proposed 7.5km greenway route. This walkover survey consisted of:
            • A qualified ecologist surveying the proposed greenway route and an extended area of 15m from the boundary of the greenway route to include the edges of adjoining fields, embankments and any bridge/culvert crossings.
        • Development of an Invasive Species Survey report. This report consisted of:
          • Detail on the site location, extent of the survey area and the survey methods employed;
          • The survey results including photographs and grid references of specific Invasive Species locations;
          • Detailed maps of the survey area highlighting the locations of all identified Invasive Species along the proposed greenway route and its extended area; and

              • Recommendations for further management of all identified Invasive Species. A range of invasive species were identified as part of these works. Some of the Invasive Species identified included Japanese Knotweed, Himalayan Balsam, Rhododendron and Giant Rhubarb.
