Annual Environmental Reports (AER)
An Annual Environmental Report (AER) is a requirement for Environmentally licenced activities to provide a summary of the environmental performance of a facility for the previous year. The AER will include monitoring information on all emissions to water, air and ground as well as information on waste and resource consumption.
Due to the time-consuming nature of the AER process, many companies choose to subcontract this task out to environmental consultants. The process involves compiling all relevant information and the requirement for cross checking of data to ensure full compliance and identify any data inconsistencies.
The AER process can involve site visits to review current operations, noting any changes to the facility or its processes over the last 12 months. Collection and review of monitoring data and records is carried out and the data summarised for the AER. This would include continuous monitoring, or periodic monitoring, such as weekly or bi-annually.
